Jamaica

If you’re heading off to Jamaica, you’ll probably already be aware of many of the delights that await when you land in the Caribbean. Jamaica has a long history, stretching back over 6,000 years. Its location in the Caribbean meant that it played an important role in the age of colonisation, with Christopher Columbus and then the English taking turns at administering the island. Today, the island has become synonymous with visions of a holiday in paradise on the edge of the Caribbean – and the best way to experience the best it has to offer is a stay in your very own Jamaica villa.

Not a Snowflake in Sight

There are few places more ideal for an escape to the winter sun than Jamaica. Villa and hotel accommodation can be picked up for a good price, and the facilities range from the comfortable to the opulent. In fact, so great are the demands of tourism that the public only retain access to 87 recreational beaches, while the resorts have a massive 336. Many tourists who travel to visit the island stay in the resorts and make use of those beaches without having contact with any locals beyond the staff. But the true traveller knows that this isn’t the way to see a country! Break free, get a taste for adventure and get out and explore this wonderful island.

Magical Music
With the average January temperature peaking at around 30°C in Jamaica, villa accommodation can be the ideal way to go to get the most of your winter sun. Not only are they well facilitated and the perfect place to laze in the sunshine, many of the villas feature imaginative architecture, which works in harmony with the aesthetic tone of the island. If the grey haze of a UK winter is getting you down, there are few places more likely to cure what ails you than this vibrant and colourful Caribbean island. Another benefit to arranging winter sun getaways to the Caribbean and North America is that the big airlines often offer discounted deals for those booking to fly in January. If you shop around, some offers mean discounts of about a third.

If you’re up for a little fun and music, the Rebel Salute Festival, which takes place on the 14th January at the Port Kaiser Sports Club in St Elizabeth, is a fabulous addition to your Jamaican itinerary. The festival is strictly about the music: no alcohol, no drugs and no meat. The Rebel Salute Festival has been held for the past decade and a half, and runs all night long! Any time is party time in Jamaica. Villa-based rest by the pool is the perfect antidote recommended for the next day if you’re energetic enough make it all the way through!
