For those with the cash, the world is their oyster when it comes to the most exclusive boutique hotels. Paris, London, New York, Moscow, The Bahamas: there really is no limit to where you could rest your head on the finest sheets. Of course, most of us aren’t able to afford the most exclusive rooms, those usually earmarked for oligarchs and heads of state, but that doesn’t mean we can’t experience a little taste of the high life in some of the more affordable boutique hotels. Paris might just be one of the most glamorous cities in the world, and with that glamour comes some ostentatious accommodation for those who can afford it.
Imperial Suite, Park Hyatt:
With one of the most expensive hotel rooms in the world, and a far cry from most boutique hotels, Paris’s Park Hyatt is situated in the Vendôme district: its impressively appointed Imperial Suite is the last word in luxury. A mere snip at somewhere around $20,000 per night, the Imperial Suite covers 200 square metres of the hotel’s fifth floor and has its own 60 square metre balcony. It allows the suite’s illustrious guests fantastic views of the Rue de la Paix and the Vendôme column.
The interior of the Imperial Suite offers discerning guests absolutely everything they could need during their time in the city: high ceilings, kitchen facilities, a bar, a mansard roof and even its own dining room – no eating a service station sandwich while perched on the bed here! Bathing and relaxation is available in the suite’s own spa, equipped with a whirlpool bath, steam room, shower and massage table. With a range of communication facilities that stretch to high speed internet access, computers, telephones and work areas, guests would be hard pushed to find an excuse to leave the suite and explore – although this shouldn’t really be the case no matter how luxurious the accommodation is in any boutique hotels. Paris, especially, has far too much to offer visitors (no matter how wealthy they are) to miss out on.
Royal Penthouse Suite, President Wilson Hotel:
Believe it or not, there might be some who see the fabulously extravagant Parisian hotel above as a budget option! These individuals might well choose to stay at Royal Penthouse Suite in Geneva’s President Wilson Hotel when they head to Europe. Reckoned by some to be the most expensive hotel room in the world, a night’s stay in this suite will cost more than the average year’s salary. A suite in name only, this ‘room’ takes up the entire top floor of the hotel and offers four bedrooms, six bathrooms, a cocktail lounge and a terrace with a view across Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc.
