Milan has been known as the center of the fashion world. The fashion lovers in you would definitely put this Italy city in your travel bucket list. Milan Fashion
Science
The great inventor/architect/artist known to the world as Leonardo da Vinci finished some of his great works in Milan. You can visit The Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology, the largest science museum in Italy, which is home to Leonardo da Vinci’s drawings and sketches. If you’re travelling with your children, there is an area for the young scientist in them, along with some interactive exhibitions and laboratories. You can also visit the Planetarium of Milan, the largest planetarium in Italy that was first opened in 1930. This planetarium seats for around 300 people and is visited by more than 100,000 visitors a year.
Art & History
As a city, Milan has been ruled by countries other than Italy, including Austria and France. That’s why you will find a lot of different influences in the city’s art, history, and architectural buildings. There are a lot of museums in Milan that will tell you the story about Milan. From the Archeological Museum that held some important archeological finds from the city, to the Cenacolo Vinciano Museum that houses the Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci. There are also a lot of historical buildings and monuments with fascinating architecture and rich history, such as Villa Reale that was once home of Napoleon, La Scala (world famous Opera house), Santa Maria delle Grazie (Milan’s church and convent and a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is home to the Last Supper mural by Leonardo da Vinci), and Milan Cathedral
Football
A football fan would definitely remember Milan as the home for 2 world class football club that plays in the Italian Seria A league, AC Milan and Inter Milan. So, don’t miss a visit to their stadium, San Siro Stadium, which is known world-wide with a capacity for 85.000 people.
Nature
Idroscalo is a man-made lake that is also a local favorite place to relax. This lake is also great for swimming, rowing, and peddle boating.
Fashion and Shopping
Of course we couldn’t talk about a holiday in Milan without mentioning fashion and shopping. A fashion lover would never be disappointed in this city that is home to a lot of important designers and labels. Do visit Quadrilatero d’Oro for the best brand and names with highest number of fashionable names and labels. For the best shopping spree experience, you might want to visit Milan during their 2 sales periods, which are the Winter Sales (the first Saturday in January after the Holiday period until mid February) and the Summer Sales (start at the first Saturday in July until August). However, you do need to know that most shops are usually closed for vacations in August.
