Alicante is an interesting province in Spain. Due to the increase of tourist activity, Alicante has been booming. This province attracts tourist thanks to its coastal areas, traditional villages that runs alongside modernity, and great gastronomy. Here are a number of recommendations of things to do and places to visit when you’re in Alicante.

Things to Do:

Beaches in Alicante:
There’s no better way to enjoy your travel in a foreign country than to walk your way around the amazing places to meet new people and try new things. In Alicante, you can along the Explanada de Espana and Postiguet beach. In Postiguet beach, you can also visit the Santa Barbara Castle which gives you the best view of the beach. You can also stroll around the bars and cafes in the modern Port area. If the beach is your thing, San Juan Beach which is over 6 kilometres long is perfect for you.

Cathedral & Churches:
One way to reflect on Alicante’s heritage is through its cathedral and churches. The most important ones can be found in Orihuela, a small town near Alicante. But Alicante also has its own cathedral and churches, such as San Nicholas’ 16th century cathedral, Santa Maria church, and Santa Faz monastery.

Museums:

-  The Archeological Museum MARQ: With Nativity scenes museum, Asegurada Museum that helds contemporary arts including works by Miro Dali, Picasso, Sempere, and others

-  The Lucentum Archeological Museum: Shows wonderful Roman remains on Mount Tossal

Culinary adventure:

Don’t miss out on tasting local culinary products such as salted fish and meat, turron from Jijona, sweet wine from Fondillon, cherries from La Marina Alta, pomegranates from Albatera, dates from Elche, spices from Novelda, and chocolate from Villajoyosa or Elda. But the most typical dish from Alicante is their rice dishes (paella) that are made with meat, seafood, fish, chicken, rabbit, pork, and vegetables.

 Elche

This second largest town in the Province, after Alicante, has hundreds of species of palms, cactus, and other plants in the park of Huerta del Cura. This town is also famous for its palm trees and dates

Alcoy

Alcoy’s important for Spain during the industrial revolution for its textile industry.

Elda-Petrer

These small towns are famous for its thriving shoe and leather industries and pretty castles. When you visit Elda, do try the La Sirena restaurant and buy some cakes from the shop that belongs to Spain’s most famous chocolatier, Paco Torreblanca. Chocolate Panettoni is recommended and guaranteed to melt your mouth.

Benidorm

This town is the most important tourism spot of Alicante. It has Terra Mitica and Terra Natura, and Mundomar theme parks. It is also popular for its mountain villages of Guadalest and Callosa.

Calpe

This romantic village is perfect for you to enjoy the sun and the beach. There is a massive rock formation called the Penon de Ifach that inspires people to come and enjoy the view around the bays and the Costa Blanca. Calpe’s two beaches, La Fossa and the bay of Gasparet offers you kilometers of swimming and surfing possibilities. And if you don’t want to just stay in the beach, there are also churches of Iglesia Antigua and Senora de las Nieves that were built in the 15th century.
